Lead RF / Signal Processing Algorithm Engineer

Full-time

Data Science UA is a service company with deep expertise in AI and Data Science. Our story started in 2016 with the first Data Science UA Conference in Kyiv, and since then, we’ve built one of the largest AI communities in Europe.

About the Client:

Our client is a fast-growing product company building IoT and radio-frequency devices, working at the intersection of hardware, signal processing and data.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Lead RF / Signal Processing Algorithm Engineer. You will lead algorithm development for direction finding, geolocation and GNSS resilience. The role sits where physics, mathematics and ML meet. What matters most is a solid physical understanding of how radio systems behave: why an antenna mounted in the wrong plane ruins a measurement, or why a given localisation method works at all. Deep domain understanding matters more here than perfectly clean code; the team has strong software engineers to support you.

Responsibilities:

– Lead the design and development of direction-finding and emitter geolocation algorithms
– Develop and tune beamforming, CRPA and anti-jamming / anti-spoofing processing
– Work with SDR hardware, including multi-channel synchronisation and calibration
– Analyse measurement data and trace poor results back to physical or hardware causes
– Optimise algorithms for efficient computation across large numbers of devices
– Collaborate with data science and software engineers to bring algorithms into production
– Take part in demos for partners and customers

Requirements:

– Strong background in radio engineering, telecommunications or applied physics
– Practical understanding of antennas, signal propagation and RF measurements
– Direction-finding algorithms: MUSIC, ESPRIT, Root-MUSIC, correlative interferometry, Watson-Watt
– Geolocation methods: AOA, LOB, TDOA, FDOA
– Antenna arrays: UCA, ULA
– Experience with SDR platforms (PlutoSDR, HackRF, AD9361/AD9371) and related libraries (libiio, pyadi-iio)
– GNU Radio and/or MATLAB (Phased Array System Toolbox)
– Solid algorithmic thinking and the ability to optimise computation
– English sufficient for demos and communication with partners and customers

Nice to have:

– CRPA processing: multi-channel phase/gain calibration, mutual coupling compensation, null-steering
– Hardware synchronisation and timing
– GNSS SDR software: GNSS-SDR, GPS-SDR-SIM, PyGPSClient
– GNSS tracking loops (DLL, PLL), GPS L1/L2/L5 C/A code tracking
– ML applied to signal data
– Defense tech experience
