Classification

What is classification?

Classification is a task in supervised machine learning that groups the observations into categories. Classification needs a predefined set of classes the observations can belong to and a sufficient amount of data representing each class.

Classifying hand-written digits is an example of classification.

Why is it important?

Classification is a prevalent task in business. Whether you need to determine one’s ability to pay back a debt or the type of car’s defect on the photo – classification is here for you.

Classification allows you to save loads of time and effort by substituting manual and routine work. Machine learning algorithms are also much faster and cheaper than humans, which makes them irreplaceable in many business processes.
